Steve RomanoSteve R. Romano I am Steve R. Romano, running for the office of Justice of the Peace, District 2. I believe that I possess the quality of judicial thinking; a necessary trait in order to discern what is true and what is correct in the course of administering what is just according to the law and moral standards. I believe that I possess good judgment and will use that judgment to be fair and impartial to all who seek unbiased treatment in a court of law. I believe that laws written by mankind are intended to provide for the public safety and the prosperity of our community, to protect the common good and to ensure that all are treated with equality.

I possess important skills gained in my employment history which are very similar to the duties of the Justice of the Peace office. For six years, I worked for the City of Burbank as a Civil Servant during which time I served as a Union Steward. As a steward, my duties included reviewing and interpreting union contract stipulations in order to mitigate disputes between city employees and management, much the same as a Justice of the Peace interprets state law before settling a case.

What I believe justice means: Justice is more than the interpretation of written law, it is a quality of being that is based on equitableness, moral rightness and good reasoning. Justice is the discernment of truth from lie based on moral principle determining moral conduct.

Justice is the administering of deserved punishment or reward based on the whole truth in any given situation.

I believe in the United States Constitution as the highest law of our land. It is the binding document without which we would not be the greatest nation on this earth. Its principles and guiding amendments are the very foundation of this land and it is my belief that they should never be compromised. Our founding fathers risked their lives and faced the penalty of execution in order to create this document which ensured the beginnings of our nation in the face of extreme hardship.

Steve RomanoSteve R. RomanoWe the People can do no less than honor our founding fathers' personal sacrifices which enable us to live free by continuing in the spirit of their beliefs for the betterment of our communities, counties, states and ultimately this great country that they believed so adamantly in. I have always loved this country and the high ideals it stands for, the shining example of humanity united in a single cause to live free from tyranny and oppression. I believe it is every citizen's right to walk our streets at night without fear; to feel safe from those who would threaten our way of life.

I believe in all of our constitutional rights and the amendments which ensure those rights in the order of importance that they were inscribed and I shall at all times adhere to those laws of our land with fairness and honesty. I believe that "all men are created equal" in the eyes of God, that "these truths are self evident" as stated in the Declaration of Independence, and in our nation's pledge of allegiance to "one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

But most of all, I believe in the people who are the real voice of this land and I shall never compromise to the elite, because simply put, We the People are this great nation and we should never look away when those we have chosen to represent us betray our trust once they have been elected to office. I believe that being elected to an office is not the end of the process but just the beginning of responsibility and accountability to the people.

I shall endeavor to the best of my ability to uphold these ideals at all times and under any conditions no matter the personal hardship in order to bring fair and equal justice to the people of our community.

If you believe as I do then vote for me as your Justice of the Peace and let us work together for the betterment of our community.

Thank you in advance for your support; I look forward to serving you.

Steve R. Romano

George Washington's Farewell Address

"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens...Let it be simply asked, where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths which are the instruments of investigation in courts of justice?"

Steve's Biography

Steve R. Romano MilitaryAs a young man I took my beliefs to heart and volunteered for military duty, joining the Army as an airborne infantry soldier or "paratrooper" as it is more commonly known. I served with distinction in the 82nd airborne division. After a short tour of duty in the jungles of Panama, I was promoted and transferred to a duty station in central California where I was part of the Combat Development Experimentation Command. I rose through the ranks rapidly and by the end of my second year of service, I had achieved the rank of Acting Sergeant and the responsibilities associated with the position. My service record includes numerous citations and awards and upon my Honorable Discharge, I was awarded the Good Conduct Medal for Meritorious Service above and beyond my peers. After my active duty, I served in the National Guard for a year and received my second Honorable Discharge from military service.

EducationMy education includes college where I learned the now rare trade of creating hand-painted wood signs as was the tradition for hundreds of years prior to the age of computers. My courses in higher education also include courses in business labor management relations in America and in psychology.

Steve R. Romano FamilyI am a family man and the proud father of two children who have blessed me with four grandchildren. As a father and grandfather I have a personal motive for keeping this county free from adverse elements that might threaten their future security. I have faith in God and believe in teaching ethics to our children.

Our HomeMy wife Heidi and I moved to Lincoln County almost five years ago following the passing of my father, who raised me to appreciate a simpler way of life. I have always been a country boy at heart and believe that I have found my home here in this part of the state. Together, my wife and I operate a small home business LunamontSigns.com and have established ourselves as active members of our community. Heidi also works part-time for the post office and as a home care aide, and does volunteer work with the non-profit Friends of the Library in Eureka.
